Watch Avengers Stars Getting Killed in Horror Movies Supercut
Most of the main Avengers cast members have become household names – and very wealthy people – thanks to their work in the franchise inspired by Marvel’s superhero collective, but long ago they were all just humble working actors trying to get whatever parts they could. Nowadays many of the cast would probably like to forget much of their earlier work, made when they were forced to take jobs in cheesy fare just to make ends meet. And then there are actors like Samuel L. Jackson who, even when he was already famous, was never averse to taking a paycheck role even if it meant being ripped apart by a CGI shark.
Just to remind us (and them) what they looked like before they had superpowers and/or super-suits to protect them from bullets, monsters and other threats, Films Against Humanity has put together a supercut of Avengers actors getting brutally killed in sometimes very bad movies. This supercut (see video above) should perhaps be dedicated to everyone who thinks there isn’t enough real violence and death in the MCU movies.
Our trip down memory lane begins with a classic scene from Oliver Stone’s controversial serial killer film Natural Born Killers, where stars Woody Harrelson and Juliette Lewis blast Iron Man actor Robert Downey Jr. to pieces with shotguns (the devil makes a brief appearance, because Stone was in the midst of his wacky multi-media period at the time). Next up is a truly forgettable horror movie called Mirror 2: Raven Dance where Bruce Banner/Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo dies doing boring battle with one of the cheesiest demons in movie history.
James Spader aka the voice of Ultron gets two clips: First he’s a werewolf getting shot to death by Michelle Pfeiffer in Mike Nichols’ Wolf, then he’s a very blond street gang member being doused with gasoline and set on fire in the forgotten ’80s flick The New Kids. Thanos actor Josh Brolin appears next in a clip from Guillermo Del Toro’s Mimic where he tries to escape the movie’s human-sized insect monster but, needless to say, doesn’t make it. Next up is Jackson, who before he played Nick Fury, appeared in the notorious bad movie Deep Blue Sea where he suffered one of the more iconic – and ridiculous-looking – deaths in recent film history. Black Widow actress Scarlett Johansson doesn’t actually die in her clip from the modern day B-movie Eight-Legged Freaks, but it’s still entertaining watching her get attacked by a horrible-looking giant CGI spider.
The final three clips in the package are taken from a trio of actually pretty good movies, where the stars in question happen to meet untimely demises. Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) gets burned alive by soldiers with flamethrowers in the zombie film 28 Weeks Later; Chris Evans (Captain America) freezes to death in the underrated sci-fi movie Sunshine (getting frozen seems to be a running theme for the actor); and Chris Hemsworth (Thor) meets a shocking end when he jumps his dirt bike off a cliff and right into a forcefield in The Cabin in the Woods. And they all got the last laugh by being cast in The Avengers.
